Thanks for all the great videos Matt! ctrlPaint has been super educational/ inspirational and has really helped me feel a lot more comfortable with my Cintiq. All that being said....
COPY MERGED!! Holy cow I can't believe I went so long without knowing about this! Anytime I wanted to do this technique I would first duplicate all the layers I needed, merge them and then go from there. When working with a lot of layers it definitely got messy quickly. This will be a time saver and cut down on headaches. Thanks for all the great tip and keep up the awesome work!
Wow, thanks a lot for this Matt! I used to do this but I copied all the layers and merged them down into one and then cut out the part i didn't need. So this will be a lot more efficient! Thanks again!
Thanks for yet another amazing tutorial. I refer people to your site as often as possible. I have just one question for this one. I'm not sure I completely understand the value of this method. In other words, why should I use this as opposed to "Layer via copy" for the selection I make?
I never even knew that was possible I mean I know its just pixels and they can be manipulated but that is great! Thank you Matt Kohr, you continue to strengthen my interest in digital painting with great vids like these
Copy merged is a HUGE lifesaver on some of my other Photoshop dabblings, but I've not really ever used it that late in the game with a painting(nor in the color stage). I think I will have to start giving this a whirl. I love that Photoshop can fix mistakes that are small, without loosing, say, a detailed gauntlet on a characters arm if the arm turns out to be too long anatomically, and the like.
Hi.Just subscribed to your blog, and i'm loving every video you upload! But because i use GIMP, i'll try to follow your tuts with it.And in this particular case, GIMP also have something similar called "Copy Visible" that do exactly the same. Thanks!
Great Stuff Matt. It's not like other illustrators don't know this stuff (I'm guessing), but I'm impressed most by your willingness to share (rare), and your clarity in relating the information (even MORE rare). Thanks!
I like it when a menu item is pointed out to me which has very obviously been in front of me for years but somehow I never even noticed it, and I then find myself wondering how I ever got work done without it. All your tutorials are great, your whole site is. Thanks.
